What is FUMS?
F.U.MS was built on a simple but powerful idea: that anger at a diagnosis could be turned into something that actually helps people.
Founded in 2006, F.U.MS is a fundraising and awareness platform focused on people newly diagnosed with MS, especially young people navigating that shock for the first time.
What started as one drummer’s response to his own diagnosis has grown into a movement with reach in both Canada and Germany, raising over $700,000 to date.
F.U.MS exists to make sure no one faces MS feeling invisible, unheard, or alone.
About Aaron
Aaron Solowoniuk founded F.U.MS. in 2006, 9 years after his diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 1997. Rather than stepping back, he channeled that diagnosis into something that could actually help people.
Over the years, F.U.MS. has raised more than $700,000 for MS awareness and support, but what Aaron built goes beyond fundraising. He created a space where people living with MS could see someone navigating the disease out loud, still showing up, still fighting.
When MS made touring impossible, his Billy Talent bandmates didn’t miss a beat. They stayed by his side, and together the band was awarded the 2026 Juno Humanitarian Award in recognition of that commitment.
The real measure of Aaron’s work isn’t an award though. It’s the people who heard his story and felt a little less alone because of it.

How can I support F.U.MS?
Two ways, and both are great. You can donate directly to MS Canada through our site, or you can show up to one of our events. Events are where the energy lives, and they’re a blast. Either way, you’re putting real fuel behind the fight against MS.
Where does my donation go?
Every dollar goes directly to MS Canada. No middlemen, no mystery. MS Canada funds research, advocacy, and programs that support people living with MS across the country. You can learn more about their work at mscanada.ca.
How do I view or manage my donations?
Right now, donations are processed directly through MS Canada, so you’ll want to reach out to them for receipts or donation history. That said, we’re in the process of building our own donation platform that will let you track your contributions, manage your giving, and access tax receipts all in one place. Stay tuned.
Can I volunteer with F.U.MS?
Absolutely, and we’d love the help. Whether you want to support an event, help spread the word, or get more involved with what we’re building, get in touch with us and we’ll figure out where you fit. No experience required, just a good attitude and a willingness to show up.
